In the colorful and splendid poker domain, there are so many poker games that absolutely draw our eyeballs and some of them are just like routine thing, without which we will feel uncomfortable, such as Texas Hold ‘em, Omaha, Stud card and so on.
Texas Hold ‘em, as “Poker Noble”, draws the most attentions. It is said that Texas Hold ‘em is the most popular and prevalent poker games on the earth, which is played by limitless poker players.
I am also a big fan of Texas Hold ‘em. Although I like it very much, I am still a rookie. Followings are some Texas Hold ‘em terms and definitions, which are very useful to new players like myself, as far as I am concerned.
Action: When a poker player stays in a poker hand, giving action to the round.
Ante: A small bet put in by each player
Bank roll: The money a player has to play with is their bankroll
Boat: A nickname for a full house, a set and a pair
Pot limit: Texas Hold ‘em where a player may bet up to the amount of money in the pot.
Pot odds: The amount of money that is in the pot compared to how much money of players against you down and stop weaker poker hands from getting lucky.
Runner: Sometimes referred to as runner-runner, meaning that both cards on the turn and river make the players hand.
String Bet: Betting where the player puts in a certain amount of chips, then adds more after increasing the bet. This is not allowed since string betting could be a way of getting a reaction from your opponents.
Top kicker: After matched hands, the top high card. For example if both poker players have a set of Jacks, the player with the next highest card has the top kicker.
